Howton 2 19MADISONVILLE, Ky. (2/19/18) — A Madisonville man faces burglary charges after police responded to an East Broadway Street home Sunday night.

A Madisonville Police Department arrest report revealed William Coby Howton, 34, forced open the front door that was closed and chain-locked, attempting to find a woman inside the residence at 8:11 p.m.

The metal door casing was bent and the chain broken during the break-in, MPD reported. The woman barricaded herself in a bedroom out of fear for safety, and Howton kicked that door in. She stated to police that Howton told her he had a knife.

Police reported recovering a large knife with a wooden handle that was concealed in the driver’s side sun visor as police took Howton into custody. He was charged with first-degree burglary and carrying a concealed weapon.

Howton was listed as being held in Hopkins County Jail this afternoon on $10,000 cash bond.
