david jackson 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (3/7/18) — Madisonville Mayor David Jackson responded to a recent special investigation of the city's administration that stemmed from an anonymous letter sent to the Commonwealth's Attorney.

According to a Hopkins County grand jury report dated Feb. 21, the grand jury found no wrongdoing that would warrant criminal charges in the city's hiring practices. The Kentucky Attorney General's Office investigated per a request made by the Commonwealth's Attorney.

The anonymous letter alleged the mayor's office conducted "improper hiring practices within the city of Madisonville," according to the grand jury report.

Jackson is seeking a third term as Madisonville mayor. He faces Republican opponent Kevin Cotton in the May Primary Election.

Jackson released the following statement today in response to the recent investigation:

“I am happy that both the Attorney General’s office and the Hopkins County Grand Jury concluded that there was no wrongdoing in response to this slanderous attempt to embarrass me and my administration.

This is exactly the kind of personal attacks that keeps good people from serving in political office.

I will continue to run my campaign based on my past accomplishments, my qualifications for the job and my vision for the future of Madisonville.”
