MADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/13/18) — Authorities are searching for a man considered armed and dangerous. He is wanted on the attempted murder of a Madisonville Police Department officer overnight.

The suspect has been identified as Jessie Blake Gobin, 29, standing 5-feet-11 and weighing 150 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.

MPD reported Officer Ronald Latham was attempting to stop a 1999 Honda along Island Ford Road and Lantaff Boulevard at 11:26 p.m., when Gobin failed to stop and fled north.

“Near the intersection of Whittington Drive and Island Ford Road, Gobin fired multiple shots from the driver’s side window at Officer Latham,” Latham wrote on the report. “Gobin lost control of his vehicle near Nebo Road and Quinten Drive, exited the right shoulder and overturned several times and was ejected from the vehicle.”

MPD Spokesman Lt. Andy Rush said while Latham was pursuing the vehicle, Gobin fired four rounds toward the officer.

“None of the rounds struck the cruiser,” Rush said. “Officer Latham was not injured.”

Gobin fled on foot into a wooded area. Police say they found a 9 mm semi-automatic firearm at the scene of the accident, and shell casings were recovered on Island Ford Road, where the shots were fired.

Anyone with information is asked to call MPD Detective C.P. Haynie at (270) 824-2121 Extension 2013 or Crime Stoppers at (270) 825-1111. Callers may remain anonymous.
