carnival3 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/30/18) — The city of Madisonville will host its second annual "School’s Out in Mad City" celebration free-to-all carnival Thursday-Saturday at Dr. Festus Claybon Memorial Park.

The concert previously scheduled Friday night  has been cancelled due to weather, city officials announced. The carnival will run 3-10 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10-6 p.m. Saturday.

“We’re very excited to be bringing back the School’s Out in Mad City celebration this season,” said Mayor David Jackson. “We love hosting an event that serves as a reward for students and also is a safe, family-oriented way for them to celebrate the end of the school year.”

Sounds Around Town will also have its second installment of performers (Mollie Robinson & Randy Hudson, Brent & Willie, and Andrea Guess) from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the downtown area. Carriage rides will be available 4-8 p.m., with pickups at the Big Mad Chair on Sugg Street.

With the potential of adverse weather, Community Development Director Summer Crick noted that the city will do all they can to make both events happen, but guests should watch the City of Madisonville Facebook page and website for updates/cancellations. Guests can also sign up for the GoMadisonville text alert system by texting GOMADVILLE to 51660.

Both events are funded by the city of Madisonville and Madisonville Forward.

More information about the events can be found at or by calling the Office of Community Development at 270-824-2100.
