Fire 06 arson investigation 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (6/9/18) — City police are looking for tips that could lead to the identity of a potential arsonist after several suspicious fires broke out in the city this morning.

Madisonville Police Department reported city firefighters responded to four fires beginning 5:20 a.m.

Madisonville Fire Department crews were first called to Sonic restaurant at 815 S. Main St., where an outside storage building had caught fire. Crews then responded to another one seven minutes later at a burning, unoccupied West Jagoe Street home.

The third suspicious fire occurred 5:50 a.m. at Automotive Express off South Main Street, police reported, that involved an unoccupied vehicle parked behind the business.

“Several engine companies from the Madisonville Fire Department responded and quickly brought all three fires under control minimizing damage and financial loss,” Detective CP Haynie wrote.

In addition, crews responded to an unoccupied home along Lomond Drive that was on fire at 9:52 a.m.

“All four of these fires are suspicious in nature and are currently being investigated as possible arsons,” MPD stated.

Police are asking for help in identifying those responsible for the fires. Tips can be called in anonymously to the Crime Stoppers tip line at (270) 825-1111, Detective Sean McCance or Haynie at (270) 821-1720.
