Patrick Rudd ProjectMADISONVILLE, Ky. (6/12/18) — The Patrick Rudd Project announced it will host Mitch Barnhart, University of Kentucky Cheerleaders and the Wildcat mascot for lunch during their tour of the Western Kentucky region 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 at the Joseph “Eddie” Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson.

Barnhart has been the Athletic Director at UK since 2002. In 2016, Barnhart signed a 10-year extension on his contract which will keep him at Kentucky until 2022. Barnhart was named Division I Athletic Director of the Year in 2015 by his peers.

The UK cheerleaders won their 23rd national title – including their third in a row – at the Universal Cheerleaders Association competition in January. This year's win was the third in a row for the Kentucky cheer squad. Although Kentucky has won 23 championships in the last 34 years, it is the first triple triumph since 2008-10.

The Patrick Rudd Project and UK are both supporters of veterans and are looking forward to spending time with them June 19.

The Patrick Rudd Project encourages citizens of Hopkins County to embrace local Veterans and First Responders in Honor of SGT William Patrick Rudd, to assist Veterans through the transitional phases of their lives and to promote a better understanding of veterans and first responders’ value to the community. Since its inception in 2014, PRP has awarded more than $100,000 to local first responding agencies through Everyday Heroes mini grants.
