US 41 6 24HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (6/24/18) — Hopkins countians and vendors joined in for the seventh annual Highway 41 Yard Sale this weekend.

The annual sale got a rainy start Friday, but clouds parted Saturday to allow sellers to set up early for the caravan of shoppers. Residents off the beaten path also set up shop that lured bargain hunters.

All-Star Cheer Titans team took advantage of the sale and conducted a fundraiser for their squad in front of Todd’s Gymnastics off U.S. 41 in Madisonville.

Cheer mom Rebecca Berth said they do not have a booster club and had no way to pay for uniforms, shoes and competition fees other than raising the money on their own.

“It’s our first year of competition, so we have nothing,” she said. “We are starting from scratch.”

Berth has two girls on the squad, Jayden and Miranda, noting it is an expensive endeavor.

Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission Director Tricia Noel explained five counties in western Kentucky participate including Henderson, Webster, Hopkins, Christian and Todd counties. The 150-mile sale spans from the Indiana state line to the Tennessee line and includes U.S. 41-A to pick up Webster County.

“Hopkins County happens to lay right in the middle of that 150 miles, which is great, because most people go right through here if they are following the path of the sale,” said Noel.
