DariusUPDATE: MADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/17/18) — Madisonville-Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit detectives canvassing the 2000 block of Elk Trace resulted in one felony drug trafficking arrest Monday afternoon.

Another man was detained, but not charged, while a Hispanic male ran into a cornfield, according to a press release.

Officers were seen looking for the man that fled on foot in the north end of town through Monday evening.

Authorities reported receiving “several drug complaints from citizens” in the Elk Trace vicinity, and conducted an ongoing, joint investigation by Madisonville Police Department, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police and the ATF.

Detectives noted they saw several known drug traffickers meeting at the home.

Officers visited the home at 4:40 p.m. Monday to serve Darius Walker, 40, with outstanding warrants on drug trafficking charges, according to the report. As detectives arrived, three males began to flee. Two resisted and were detained.

Detectives revealed seizing a large amount of a substance believed to be crack cocaine, ecstasy in addition to a loaded handgun, cash and paraphernalia during the search.

Walker was charged with two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine-more than 2 grams, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine-more than 4 grams/second or greater offense), second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (ecstasy), convicted felon in possession of a handgun, resisting arrest and tampering with physical evidence.

Walker was listed as being held in Hopkins County Jail this morning, pending bond.

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/16/18) — Madisonville Police Department officers and a K-9 have been searching the vicinity of Brown Badgett Loop on the north side of the city this evening.

MPD Chief Chris Taylor indicated the narcotics unit is investigating the situation. Some kind of narcotics were found.

A man officers were attempting to question earlier fled on foot from that area.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
