LangleyMADISONVILLE, Ky. (8/9/18) — A 22-year-old who allegedly robbed a convenience store brandishing a sword and attempted to set fire to a residence was indicted on eight counts.

A Hopkins County grand jury returned the true bill against Donelle Langley-Williams of Madisonville, according to recent court documents.

The charges included second-degree assault, public intoxication, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, menacing, second-degree disorderly conduct, attempt to commit first-degree arson and first-degree robbery.

On June 13, the record shows Langley-Williams was armed with a deadly weapon during the course of the robbery, and she had intent to damage an occupied building by staring a fire.

Madisonville Police Department previously reported responding to a robbery complaint at the West Noel Avenue Marathon, where the clerk described the suspect as a man that had entered the store armed with a sword before 8 a.m. and left with five cans of beer, a lighter and a newspaper without payment.

Later that evening, city officers reported responding to a complaint at a Bishop Street home, where Langley-Williams was attempting to break in, chased a man with a machete and threatened to kill him if he did not get his sister. A witness told police the the suspect stuffed paper in bottles, lit them on fire and threw them at the home. The resident indicated he did not know the individual or why she was attempting to assault him.
