BarkerHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (12/9/18) — The area vice unit arrested a Georgia man following an investigation along Rosedale/Kentucky 109 in Dawson Springs this evening.

Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit reported detectives were surveying the Dawson Springs area at 4:30 p.m. after Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a complaint concerning a stolen four-wheeler off Olney Road earlier today.

A person believed to be responsible for the theft was seen loading the ATV into a pickup truck near U.S. 62 in Dawson Springs, according to a press release. The driver fled from authorites through several fields off U.S. 62. The pursuit was terminated after detectives lost sight of the suspect, identified as Kristopher Barker, 27 of Dallas, Georgia.

Barker was spotted near St. Charles an hour later, Madisonville Police Department Sgt. Justin Jones wrote, and then he fled on foot before officers caught up with him.

Barker was charged with first- and second-degree fleeing police, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment-police officer, reckless driving, possession of burglary tools, theft by unlawful taking and other traffic offenses.

He was listed as being held in Hopkins County Jail this evening, pending bond.

MPD, HCSO, Kentucky State Police and Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife assisted.
