AbbottHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (12/13/18) — Local, state and federal authorities on the trail of an alleged drug dealer say a large amount of cash, several ounces of a substance believed to be meth and three handguns were confiscated today.

Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit reported a search warrant was served at the man’s Christian County home along the 19,000 block of Dawson Springs Road following a month-long, joint investigation.

Detectives revealed in a preliminary news release, a confidential source bought more than a quarter-pound of alleged meth at the residence of 46-year-old Jimmy L. Abbott.

Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office Detective Steve Bryan wrote that Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement officers and U.S. marshals picked Abbot up in Madisonville. He was taken to Christian County Jail this afternoon.

Abbott was charged with four counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (meth-equal to or more than 2 grams/firearm enhanced), trafficking in marijuana-less than 8 ounces/firearm enhanced (second offense), possession of drug paraphernalia, convicted felon in possession of a handgun and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (opiates-more than 10 dosage units).

He was listed as being held in Christian County Jail on $40,000 cash bond this evening.

KSP Post 2, Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Hopkinsville Police Department Strike Force, HCSO and K-9 unit, and U.S. Marshals assisted.
