Mobile Home 12 17HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (12/17/18) — A mobile home in St. Charles was heavily damaged over the weekend after it caught fire.

St. Charles, Earlington and South Hopkins fire departments worked Saturday afternoon the extinguish the flames at 775 Buttermilk Road, which was closed to traffic to allow tanker access.

The residence was used as a secondary home, and the owner was not in town when the blaze broke out. Furniture, bedding and other household items were among items lost.

Amy Demoss, a cousin to the homeowner, said the breaker box inside the residence was off in addition to the water heater.

The entire front porch appeared to be charred, with smoke and water damage throughout the structure. Several tree stumps outside the home were charred from the blaze.

She believes the fire was suspicious, although the cause has not been officially determined.
