Joe BlueMADISONVILLE, Ky. (1/10/19) — Madisonville Community College hired Joe Blue as the facility's first director of public protection this week.

In this position, Blue will be responsible for enhancing the college’s security plans and procedures for all campuses, assisting in the implementation of a new behavioral intervention team, and for maintaining a safe campus environment, MCC reported.

“I appreciate Dr. Kelley and Madisonville Community College for giving me this opportunity to help with the progress toward improved safety and security," Blue said. "I look forward to working with all faculty and staff in any capacity I can to help."

Blue most recently served as the interim director of the Hopkins County Regional Chamber of Commerce. Prior to that appointment, he was in law enforcement and corrections for 27 years. Blue has experience as a deputy jailer, deputy sheriff and jailer in Hopkins County. He received his law enforcement training through Eastern Kentucky University and is a certified Kentucky peace officer.

“I am so excited to have an individual with Joe’s vast background and experience in this role on campus,” said MCC President Dr. Cindy Kelley. “Not only does Joe have the knowledge to help make our campus safe for students and the college community, he has the right demeanor and approach to make everyone feel secure and welcome.”
