fire rescueMADISONVILLE, Ky. (1/22/19) — City firefighters were called to the 500 block of Sharp Avenue over the weekend to rescue a cat out on a limb.

Madisonville Fire Department reported the animal was 20 feet up a tree Saturday morning. Crews assessed the situation for optimum ladder placement.

A firefighter on a ladder tried to lure the feline with food, but the cat wanted no part of that. Instead, it wandered farther out on the branch, according to the report.

“There was no safe way to rescue the cat from the branch," MFD member Treg Scott wrote, and the cat owner was told it would eventually find its way down.
