drug arrest 04 300HANSON, Ky. (2/13/19) — A Hopkins County man accused of selling drugs in the Hanson Walmart store was arrested today at his home following a joint investigation.

Madisonville-Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit, Kentucky State Police and DEA began investigating in the fall, Madisonville Police Department Detective Bo Crump reported, centered around a large methamphetamine operation.

Detectives reported conducting surveillance on a man identified as Jeff Brown, 37 of Hanson. He was spotted inside the store Nov. 30, and detectives made a traffic stop as he left the establishment. Authorities found about 1.5 ounces of a substance believed to be meth, paraphernalia, a loaded 9 mm handgun, cash and possible marijuana.

Brown told police he “had just had sold a ball of crystal methamphetamine to an individual inside Walmart,” the report listed. Detectives also noted finding a stolen handgun during a search of his Antioch Church Road home.

Brown was arrested at his residence this afternoon in Hanson. He was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (meth-more than 2 grams/weapon enhanced), receiving stolen property-firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.
