HealogicsMADISONVILLE, Ky. (3/13/19) — Baptist Health Madisonville physicians, APRNs, leaders and clinicians gathered to celebrate the Robert A. Warriner III M.D. Center of Excellence awarded to Baptist Health Madisonville Wound Care recently.

The local center has achieved patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal, for a minimum of two consecutive years, health officials announced today.

The Center was awarded the prestigious honor by Healogics, the nation's largest provider of advanced wound care services. The award is named for Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care and the former chief medical officer for Healogics.

“We are blessed to provide the resources of the Baptist Health Madisonville Wound Care Center to our community,” BHM president Robert Ramey said in a statement. “The important work that they do provides an improvement in the quality of life for our patients that suffer from a wide variety of health conditions that can lead to the need for wound care therapies. This award is a testament to the quality of care of that we can provide to our community and the incredible, patient-focused team that we have in the Wound Care Center.”

Baptist Health Madisonville Wound Care is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 700 Wound Care Centers®, with access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. The facility offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time, spokeswoman Kristy Quinn stated. Leading edge treatments at the Center include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. The Center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.

“To be recognized as a Center of Excellence again is truly an honor,” said Kenny McCarraher, program director. “It once again shows the exceptional, high-quality care that is received by each and every patient that visits our wound center. The physicians, APRNs, and the entire staff are a patient-centric team providing the highest quality of care possible. It is truly an honor and a blessing to be able to work with such fine and caring individuals on a daily basis.”
