UPDATE: HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (3/18/19) — An Illinois driver was taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville following a three-vehicle accident that happened in the southbound lanes of I-69 near Nortonville.

Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputy Heath Owens reported Julianna Meservey, 28 of Ashfield, Massachusetts was driving a 2018 Ford F-150 southbound from Western Kentucky Parkway, merging onto I-69 at 1:07 p.m. today.

Gordon Horton, 63 of Woodville, Alabama was driving a semi southbound in the right lane, when Meservey merged into Horton’s lane and struck the semi, according to the report. Horton moved into the left lane as another truck driver, Ryan Gooch, 43 of Joliet, Illinois, approached from the left.

Horton’s truck struck Gooch’s vehicle, which sent it into the concrete bridge structure. Gooch was treated for injuries and transported to the hospital.

No others were reported injured. Kentucky State Police, Medical Center Ambulance and South Hopkins Volunteer Fire Department assisted. Southbound traffic has been redirected around the scene through the afternoon.
