Whitfield CottonHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (4/14/19) — Hopkins County Judge-Executive Jack Whitfield Jr. and Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton have scheduled a joint press conference 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Government Center in Madisonville.

Hopkins Fiscal Court reported Whitfield and Cotton plan to discuss the importance of the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census.

The officials will kick off promotional efforts through the year related to the Census.

According to 2020census.gov, the nationwide survey shapes communities and helps determine federal funding distribution to U.S. communities related to hospitals, fire departments, schools and roads. Mandated by the U.S. Constitution, the U.S. has counted its population each decade since 1790.

Every household will receive Census survey material by April next year.
