shots firedMADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/21/19) — Shots rang out early this morning that prompted police to respond to the area of North Kentucky Avenue and Couch Street.

There were no reported injuries related to the spray of gunfire.

Madisonville Police Department confirmed shots were fired shortly before 2 a.m. Officers reported arriving on the scene to find a 2010 maroon Chevy Camaro in a parking lot next to Rosenwald-Smith Cultural Center that had been struck by gunfire numerous times.

According to scanner traffic, there was a party in progress in that area, and police were looking for a vehicle possibly heading to Hopkinsville. Shell casings, possibly from two different weapons, were collected at the scene.

MPD reported several casings were found in the vehicle. Authorities also checked with surrounding hospitals to make sure there were no gunshot victims being treated.

Police said no one was inside of the Camaro as shots were fired. Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted.

MPD reported the investigation is ongoing.
