mcc 01 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/15/19) — Madisonville Community College, along with the other colleges in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, and in partnership with the members of the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers, will celebrate the first Kentucky Manufacturing Going Pro Signing Day Friday across the state for new hires in advanced manufacturing.

Events are being held statewide to recognize the opportunities in advanced manufacturing statewide for students. The MCC signing will take place in the Steve Beshear Center for Postsecondary Education at 11:30 Friday morning, MCC reported.

Recent graduates from industrial maintenance technology and six other programs are Going Pro by signing on for a new career with a local manufacturer. There are thousands of open positions in advanced manufacturing, and employers are having difficulty filling these jobs because of a lack of trained workers.

KCTCS is the primary provider of manufacturing training in Kentucky and is the solution to the state’s workforce shortage. KCTCS has more than 300 advanced manufacturing partners statewide.

Manufacturing is a substantial part of Kentucky’s economy, college officials reported, in generating the following:

· 250,000 jobs
· 4,500 manufacturing facilities
· 3rd in US auto production
· $29.2 billion Kentucky-made exports

More information about the event is available by clicking the Going Pro website.
