SHVFD 1NORTONVILLE, Ky. (6/10/19) — South Hopkins Volunteer Fire Department held a swearing in ceremony Sunday afternoon at the station. Three of its members were elected to take on new leadership roles.

SHVFD Assistant Chief Mike Easley took the oath of service during the ceremony. Easley's granddaughter, Riley Goff of Mortons Gap, placed the pin on her grandfather’s jacket.

Chief Darwin Rideout spoke to the group of officers, saying they should never stop training and learn all they can.

“Be compassionate, because you never know when a situation will occur,” he said. “In the midst of us is a third partner, that is the good Lord above who watches over us in every way.”

Austin Vaughn was also recognized as the newly elected lieutenant, and Matt Brown has taken on the duties of captain.
