“For our Fall 2019 Season, we may have taken that too literally,” jokes Glema Center Director Brad Downall. “We are bringing in a cirque show that features aerial acrobatics. Whether it's the magic of old time circuses with Cirque Mechanics, riding down memory lane with the great hits of America, the heartfelt country ballads of Hunter Hayes, or Complexions Contemporary Ballet’s scintillating tribute to David Bowie, we hope that several of our 10 performances will have you falling for the arts.”

The Center Stage Series, the Family Special, the Special Event, and Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical will be set in the Glema’s 1,018 seat auditorium, while the Chamber Music and Coffeehouse Series has the audience seated on the stage in an intimate setting, Downall writes.

The Center Stage lineup, sponsored by the city of Madisonville, the Enduring Legacy of Mrs. Glema Mahr, Old National Bank, Baptist Health Madisonville, Hopkins County Tourist & Convention Commission and Watermark Toyota includes America on Friday, Sept. 27, Hunter Hayes on Saturday, Nov. 9, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The Glema’s US Bank Family Special will excite patrons of all ages with Cirque Mechanics’ 42 FT 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.

The Glema Mahr Chamber Music Series will present Evansville Symphony’s Eykamp String Quartet on Sept. 17 and clarinet virtuoso Yoonah Kim Nov. 12. The Hancock Bank & Trust Coffeehouse Series features, and emerging singer/songwriter Joan Shelley Sept. 13, and Nashville based Phil Madeira Quintet Friday, Dec. 13.

First United Bank & Trust’s Proud Partnership brings you Roald Dahl’s Matilda Oct. 25-26. The Glema rings in the Holiday Season with Christmas Time is Here, featuring vocalist Jaimee Paul & the MCC Singers Friday, Dec. 6, to round out the season.

Master Choreographer Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson’s Complexions Contemporary Ballet reinvent dance through a groundbreaking mix of methods, styles and cultures. This performance is funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. Cirque Mechanics in 42 FT - A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels

At the center of every circus rests a 42ft ring full of thrills, laughs and excitement. 42FT – A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels, is the latest invention from the creative minds of Cirque Mechanics. The company dares us to leap into the circus ring and experience the timelessness of this evolving art form. The shows’ unique mechanical interpretation of the traditional, and its story full of the lore of the historic one-ring circus, create a welcoming place, like a big top, where we can be amazed. Step right up ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, to the Cirque Mechanics world of gears and canvas, pulleys and sawdust- within 42FT. Members of the Eykamp String Quartet serve as principal string players of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and as Artists in Residence at the University of Evansville. The Eykamp Family established the quartet and vision in 2002. Yoonah Kim - clarinet ∙ Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019 ∙ 7:30 p.m. — Rapidly earning recognition as a young artist of uncommon musical depth and versatility, clarinetist Yoonah Kim is a winner of the 2016 Concert Artists Guild International Competition. The first solo clarinetist to win CAG in nearly 30 years, this Korean-Canadian artist also became the first woman to win first prize at the Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition.
