UPDATE: MADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/1/19) — Additional information was obtained from an arrest report released today regarding a truck driver’s encounter with police early this morning.

Officers were dispatched to Eastside Lane shortly after midnight related to a truck driver on the road driving at a high rate of speed, almost striking a residence, according to the report. He was previously reported to have been at Love’s Truck Stop in Hanson, screaming, yelling, banging the counter and disrobing.

An officer reported seeing a white 2016 T600 Kenworth truck stopped in the center of the street with reverse lights on, prompting the officer to turn on emergency equipment. Instead, the man identified as Tyrone D. Purce of Madisonville, drove off and blared the vehicle horn. He stopped the vehicle, got out and began running off into a yard off Eastside Lane.

Police indicated Purce ignored commands to stop and kept screaming and yelling, and then attempted to re-enter the truck. At that point, officers tasered the individual.

Police also reported the individual kicked the patrol cruiser the entire distance to Hopkins County Jail, and “spit blood” at the jail deputies and officers.
