Fire 03 house 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/12/19) — Madisonville Fire Department crews responded to a house fire at the 200 block of Annex Street 7:14 p.m. Thursday.

According to the report, firefighters had the blaze under control in 16 minutes and arrived on scene in four minutes.

As engines arrived, MFD Assistant Chief Calvert Adam noted smoke was showing from the eves of the dwelling.

The tenant told firefighters flames were in the kitchen on the second floor and everyone was outside, according to the report, adding he was downstairs watching TV, when he smelled something burning followed by a loud pop. He went upstairs to find the kitchen ablaze.

Firefighters began extinguishing the flames and searched inside for a child not accounted for, but was found to be safe outside.

Calvert said Tower-1 was tasked with ventilation and called in Madisonville Utilities to turn off the power to the home, while other crews attacked the fire and helped tenants gather belongings after it was extinguished. In addition, MFD contacted the local American Red Cross to assist the family,

MFD placed caution tape around the home, listing a $35,000 loss. Madisonville Police Department and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted. Fire crews worked at the scene for two hours.
