Bust 7 15MADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/15/19) — A seven-month drug trafficking probe resulted in the arrest of a Madisonville resident today.

Local authorities indicated additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues by Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit, Kentucky State Police DESI West and the DEA.

The vice unit reported they have been looking into the “large scale” operation involving 31-year-old Corey Civils since January. Detectives determined Civils was a significant distributor of a large amount to crystal methamphetamine in the area and named one of the “primary suspects.”

Informants purchased a large amount of crystal meth from Civils over the course of the investigation, according to the report, that led to a search warrant served Thursday at his Bartlett Avenue residence in addition to a separate location off Pride Avenue in Madisonville.

Detectives listed seizing a handgun, ammunition, more than five marijuana plants, a Polaris slingshot and assorted drug paraphernalia items during the search.

Civils was charged today with two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (meth-more than 2 grams), convicted felon in possession of a handgun, cultivating marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was listed as being held in Hopkins County Jail this evening without bond.

Madisonville Police Department officers and Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted.
