Hopkins Seal 01 300HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (10/16/19) — The burn ban issued in Hopkins County a month ago has been modified per Judge-Executive Jack Whitfield today.

The county reports cooking fires and contained fire pits are currently permitted, and must be monitored at all times.

Increased precipitation in the area along with cooler temperatures resulted in the burn ban modification.

Bonfires, brush and trash burning are still prohibited in Hopkins County, according to the judge.

Whitfield asks residents to follow current state forestry fire hazard season laws of burning between 6 a.m.-6p.m. through Dec. 15.
