ThackerEARLINGTON, Ky. (11/11/19) — A truck driver who allegedly ran a West Main Street stoplight in Earlington Sunday morning caught the eye of a trooper on patrol.

Kentucky State Police Post 2 reported Trooper Brandon Graves tried to stop the bobtail truck at 10:24 a.m..

Evidently, the driver, identified as Joshua Thacker, 26 of Earlington, had other plans. Thacker was said to have later attempted to disarm the trooper after the truck left the highway.

“The pursuit ended along Oakwood Avenue, where Thacker lost control of his vehicle,” Post 2 Spokesman, Trooper Rob Austin writes. “While attempting to take Thacker into custody, he became combative, and attempted to disarm Trooper Graves.”

Thacker was unsuccessful, however, KSP noted. Thacker then fled on foot, but was caught by Fish and Wildlife Officer Brant Green and Trooper Graves. Authorities discovered the truck was listed as stolen.

Thacker was charged with resisting arrest, first-degree fleeing police, third-degree assault of police officer, attempt to disarm a peace officer, driving on a suspended or revoked license, second-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, no CDL license and theft by unlawful taking (automobile-less than $1 million).

Outstanding arrest warrants were also served to Thacker, KSP reported. He was taken to Hopkins County Jail, where he was listed as being held today, pending bond.
