WW 1MADISONVILLE, Ky. (12/9/19) — Area youth packed downtown Madisonville for the festive Winter Wonderland event held Saturday.

The weather was perfect for outdoor activities including the popular suds-making venue at First United Bank Plaza. Several food vendors were busy offering a variety of tasty treats, and downtown businesses joined in the festivities.

Many children made take-home Christmas crafts, cards or wrote letters to Santa. One child said although she hadn't been 100 percent good this year, she was still writing Santa to ask for presents. A new Christmas tree was on display at Historic Hopkins County Courthouse lawn that was lit prior to the annual Christmas parade.

Nearby, an igloo made of recycled plastic containers was on display for kids to explore. Jolly St. Nick and Mrs. Claus also were popular among the crowd.
