AtteburyHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (12/11/19) — An assault and kidnapping investigation launched Saturday night in Madisonville led to an arrest Tuesday afternoon in Manitou.

Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office reported city officers responded to a Madisonville home, where a victim was able to summons help and get away from 43-year-old Jason Attebury, who was allegedly holding his mother against her will.

Sheriff Matt Sanderson said shots were fired inside the home during the initial call at 8:46 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities obtained a search warrant in connection to a Beeny Lane home in Manitou, where evidence of a physical assault was found, the sheriff said, resulting in the arrest of Attebury at his residence Tuesday afternoon.

Attebury was charged with second-degree assault-domestic violence, first-degree wanton endangerment, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, kidnapping, third-degree terroristic threatening and driving on a suspended or revoked license.

He was listed as being held in Hopkins County Jail today, pending bond.

Madisonville Police Department and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted.
