Cloern KHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (1/18/20) — Hopkins County Clerk Keenan Cloern reported Real ID compliant license and IDs will not be available in the Hopkins Circuit Court Clerk offices before the Oct. 1 deadline to board a domestic flight.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is the issuing authority of license and IDs in the state, and have assumed all responsibility for issuing the Real ID.

KYTC reports it is currently working on a plan to open regional offices across the state.

Cloern said all license and ID cards issued in circuit clerk offices remain in effect through expiration, but will no longer be an acceptable form of identification after Oct. 1 to board a domestic flight, enter a military base nor federal facility.

Cloern recommends residents apply for a passport ahead of plans as KYTC works to open regional offices to issue Real ID cards.
