HCC StormMADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/21/19) — Hopkins County Central was held scoreless as Caldwell County pulled away to win 8-0 in the 7th District Baseball Tournament on Monday.

With the loss, Hopkins County Central ended its season 9-22.

Caldwell County improved to 16-14 and advanced to the 7th District Baseball Tournament title game with the win.

Gabe East was credited with the pitching win. East pitched a complete game for the Tigers, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out nine and walking one over seven innings.

Hopkins County Central pitcher Jacob Morphew suffered the pitching loss. Morphew surrendered eight runs on 12 hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five.

Caldwell County collected a dozen hits. Tate VanHooser, Cody Holub and Logan Smiley each provided multiple hits for the Tigers. VanHooser went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Caldwell County in the hits column.

Austin Scarbrough accounted for Hopkins County Central's lone hit in the season-ending loss.
