fatal collision 2 300UPDATE: ELKTON, Ky. (6/11/19) —Kentucky State Police has released the identity of the fatal vehicle accident yesterday in Todd County. KSP said 41-year-old Michael S. Wright of Lewisburg was killed when his vehicle crashed on Kentucky 181 near Elkton.

ELKTON, Ky. (6/10/19) — Kentucky State Police investigated a fatality accident early this morning on Kentucky 181 South in Todd County.

KSP Post 2 Trooper Rob Austin said Post 2 was notified at 6:09 a.m. that a fatal collision had occurred about 1 mile north of Highland Lick Road.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1999 Nissan passenger car was head south on Kentucky 181 South, when for unknown reason, the operator lost control of the vehicle, which left the shoulder of the southbound lane, headed down an embankment, struck a tree and caught fire, said KSP.

Authorities said the driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Todd County Coroner's Office.

KSP is withholding the identity of the driver until confirmation is received from the Medical Examiner's Office. Trooper Mark Combs is continuing his investigation.

KSP was also assisted at the scene by Todd County Sheriff's Department, Clifty and Elkton volunteer fire departments, Elkton City Police Department, Todd County Emergency Management, Todd County Chaplain's Service and ComCare EMS.
