INGREDIENTS

• Peeps
• Vacuum Pumper and Chamber

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1: Place a few peeps inside the chamber. Describe and classify the peeps by their observable properties.
STEP 2: Attach the vacuum pumper to the chamber, remove as much air from the chamber as possible, and observe. Describe and classify the peeps by their observable properties.
STEP 3: Allow the air back inside the chamber and observe. Describe and classify the peeps by their observable properties.

EXPLANATION

The vacuum pumper removes all of the air from around the peeps, allowing the air inside the peeps to escape. As this happens, the peeps expand. Since the vacuum pumper removed most of the air from inside the peeps, when the air is returned to the chamber, the peeps shrink.

• NEVER eat or drink anything while doing any experiment.
• REMEMBER experiments may require marbles, small balls, balloons, and other small parts. Those objects could become a CHOKING HAZARD. Adults are to perform those experiments using these objects. Any child can choke or suffocate on uninflated or broken balloons. Keep uninflated or broken balloons away from children.
