Central City Police Officer Wade Shoemaker began an investigation several days ago after prison officials contacted his office requesting an investigation into the source of drugs being brought into GRCC.

A joint investigation by Shoemaker, a CCPD officer who is assigned to the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force and Kentucky State Police DE/SI West, along with other CCPD, PNTF and KSP officers led to the discovery of drugs stowed at a location outside the prison.

Police found what appeared to be crystal meth, Ecstasy, marijuana, synthetic marijuana, Suboxone, Oxycodone and Hydrocodone. Continued investigation led to the arrest of Brandon S. Geary, 44 of Horse Branch on Aug. 13.

Today, a Muhlenberg Grand Jury returned an indictment on two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and two counts of first-degree promoting contraband.

Shoemaker said today that the investigation is continuing and additional arrests are possible.
