seay arrestGREENVILLE, Ky. (11/20/17) — The driver of a vehicle that struck an off-duty Greenville Police Officer last month has been located and charged with multiple offenses.

Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office was notified Oct. 14 about GPD Officer Timothy Wright being struck in the parking lot of Huck’s after trying to intervene in a fight between juvenile females in the parking lot.

MCSO Deputy Jakop Smith said Wright advised two female juveniles were fighting near the front door of Huck’s. Wright identified himself as a police officer and attempted to stop the fight. When the altercation ended, one of the girls got into the passenger seat of a dark-colored Ford Edge. When Wright told the male driver and female in the vehicle to stop, it sped toward him and struck him with the driver’s side door.

Smith said after Wright was struck by the vehicle, he was able to get the license plate number of the car, which was discovered to have been stolen in Clarksville, Tennessee. The vehicle left the scene headed toward Christian County.

About three weeks later, Smith said the vehicle was located by Paducah Police Department. With assistance from PPD and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, the operator of the vehicle was discovered to be 19-year-old Kenneth Seay of Hermitage, Tennessee.

Smith obtained an arrest warrant for Seay charging him with first-degree assault/police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment/police officer, first-degree fleeing or evading police/motor vehicle, receiving stolen property - $10,000 or more, no operator’s license and leaving the scene of an accident.

Seay is being held in the McCracken County Jail pending transport to Muhlenberg County.
