hillbilly 1MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (12/5/17) — Hillbilly Jim, stage name for Jim Morris, visited students at Muhlenberg South Elementary School last Friday.

Staff and students dressed up in overalls and straw hats for the event.

Hillbilly Jim donated a book about his life to the MSES library and spent time with the students during three separate sessions. He also joined them for corn dogs during lunch hour.

Hillbilly Jim talked with students about his days with World Wrestling Federation.

"I worked with WWF for 15 years,” said Morris. “One of my most memorable wrestling matches was with Andre the Giant, who was 7-foot 3-inches and played in ‘The Princess Bride’ movie."

He encouraged students to stay focused and work for their dreams.

"You can daydream, but you got to put wheels on your dreams or you'll just be stuck and spinning your wheels,” he said.

He encouraged the students to remember that, "As long as you can dream it and as long as you can work it, you can achieve it."

Tom Hagan, MSES gym teacher and long-time friend of Hillbilly Jim, connected Principal Grayson Wells with Hillbilly Jim to coordinate the event. Wells said he immediately saw that having Hillbilly Jim would also follow the school theme, EPIC (Every Person Is Capable) and invited him to speak with the students.

Hillbilly Jim is broadcast on SiriusXM from Nashville, Tennessee on the Outlaw Country Channel.
