gregory arrestBROWDER, Ky. (1/9/18) — A woman crossing the road was struck by a motor vehicle yesterday afternoon about sundown.

Kentucky State Police received a call at 4:50 p.m. regarding a pedestrian being struck at the intersection of U.S. 431 and Exit Road near Browder.

KSP said Mildred Cole, 38 of Drakesboro exited a semi-tractor and trailer and attempted to cross U.S. 431, when she was struck by a 1999 Dodge pickup truck driven by 32-year-old Edwin Gregory of Drakesboro, who was headed north on U.S. 431. Police say Gregory attempted to pass the semi in the southbound lane and struck Cole as she was crossing the road on foot.

Muhlenberg County EMS transported Cole to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for treatment of serious but apparently non-life threatening injuries.

Police charged Gregory with driving on a DUI suspended license – first offense with aggravating circumstances, failure to produce insurance card, failure of owner to maintain required insurance – second offense, careless driving and no registration receipt.

KSP was assisted on scene by Drakesboro Fire Department, Muhlenberg EMS and Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office.
