escue arrestCENTRAL CITY, Ky. (4/10/18) — A police chase last night along a portion of Kentucky 70 West included both vehicle and foot pursuits and ended with a man charged with multiple offenses.

Central City Police Department officials said Sgt. Jason Lindsey attempted a stop on a 1996 Nissan pickup for a minor traffic violation at 8:37 p.m. Tuesday on Kentucky 70 West, Central City. When the Nissan failed to stop, a pursuit began heading west on Kentucky 70.

Police said CCPD Assistant Chief Jimmy Beadnell and Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Rose joined the pursuit and the vehicle stopped in the 2600 block of Kentucky 70 West. The driver then fled on foot but was apprehended shortly before 11 p.m.

The driver, Tony Escue Jr., 41 of Dandridge, Tennessee was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police/motor vehicle, second-degree fleeing or evading police/foot and first-degree criminal mischief. It was later discovered Escue had Muhlenberg County and out-of-state warrants for failure to appear. He is being held in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.

CCPD was also assisted by the MCSO K-9 Unit and Kentucky State Police. CCPD said during the pursuit, a CCPD cruiser was damaged.

UPDATE: MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (4/10/18) 11:51 P.M. — The man being sought by police has been located and is in custody, according to Muhlenberg County 911.

ORIGINAL STORY:

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (4/10/18) — Authorities are searching for a man, who allegedly ran from police after a short pursuit in the area of Kentucky 70 West.

Muhlenberg County 911 photo and description of the person the police are looking for Tuesday night. The man being sought is Tony Escue Jr., who is considered armed and dangerous.

Escue is described as being 5’8” tall, 170 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and burgundy T-shirt.

Anyone that comes into contact with Escue is urged to not approach him but to call 911 immediately.
