election results 11 9MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (5/22/18) — The 2018 Primary Election in Muhlenberg County has come to a close and the following results have been posted on the Secretary of State website.

In the contested Republican Primary races, votes were:

Magisterial District 2: Danny Cain, 170; T. Darrin Benton, 214.

Constable District 2: Don Paschal, 105; Jay McElwain, 83; Jordan Mallory, 178.

Magisterial District 5, James R. “JR” Whitmer, 85; Andrew Bullock, 186.

In the much broader contested Democratic Primary races, votes were:

County Attorney: Jonathan S. King, 1,893; Ryan Rice, 4,711.

County Clerk: Kyle Thomas, 195; Kelly Bryan Young, 169; Tommy Watkins, 1,403; Cozy Chappell, 830; Crystal Smith, 4,270.

Sheriff: Terry Ray Nelson, 47; Ricki Allen, 3,956; Jerry Knight, 2,400; Jerry D. Mayhugh, 545.

Jailer: Lynn Avery, 414; Terry Nunley, 3,533; Terry Vick, 2,891.

Coroner: John Scott, 912; Jason “Bubba” Steele, 693; Leslie Flener, 893; Larry D. Vincent, 4,201.

Magistrate District 1: Roger L. Smith Jr., 109; Paul E. Parker, 106; Malcolm West, 439; Andy Flener, 141; Nathan Shemwel, 259.

Magistrate District 2: Michael Sublett, 392; Luke Browning, 416; Davey Douglas, 442; Kevin W. Brooks, 118.

Magistrate District 3: Cecil Mangrum, 66; Barry Gardner, 569; Ross Jones, 743.

Constable District 3: Tommy Rose, 396; Lorenza A. Abrams II, 156; Ricky Spears, 713.

Magistrate District 4: Kelly Melton, 321; Keith Phillips, 406; Rick Whitney, 81; Shannon Shemwell, 36; Barry W. Waltrip, 46; Brent Sherrod, 262; Jeffrey Thomas Spurlin, 112; Allen Matthew Harris, 93.

Magistrate District 5: Terry Amos, 191; Greg Rager, 564; Kevin Gunn, 629; Troy Flener, 277.

Constable District 5: Billy Ray Landrum, 257; Tim Franklin, 1,287.

A question on the ballot for citizen voters in part of Drakesboro was: “Are you in favor of the sale of alcoholic beverages in the City of Drakesboro?” The answers were: Yes, 103; No, 66.
