fight the fightMUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (8/14/18) — An afternoon and evening filled with live bands, food and speakers will honor the memory of a young woman that lost her life to an overdose of drugs.

The Jacklyn Peveler “Fight the Fight” Drug Awareness and Prevention event also will feature a car show and bike show paddle boat races at the nearby Community Center. Activities are scheduled from noon until midnight Sunday, Aug. 19 at Vaught Lake on Kentucky 1379. Food will be available and those attending are encouraged to bring a chair.

Jacklyn is the inspiration for event and several recovery and addiction agency representatives and churches will offer information and support to the community about overcoming addiction.

One of the co-organizers, Angela Ferrera, said organizers want the Jacklyn Peveler “Fight the Fight” to become an annual event.

Bands include Nailed Too, The DeArmonds, Courtney Peveler, Spoken From Dusk and Family Tradition Band. Alcohol and drugs are not allowed on the premises.

“We really tried to think of everything we could get to help people and once we started, this just took off,” said Ferrera. “And, we saw things that we think will help people. If it changes one life, it makes a difference in our community.”

Admission at the gate is $10 while those age 15 and under are free.
