u.s. 431 emblem rdsMUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (3/17/19) — CSX Railroad plans to close a section of U.S. 431 in Muhlenberg County starting Monday, March 18.

CSX plans to close U.S. 431 between Central City and Drakesboro for upgrades to a rail crossing at U.S. 431 milepoint 15.674. The extended closure is just under 2 miles south of the Western Kentucky Parkway/U.S. 431 Central City Interchange and about 4 miles north of Drakesboro.

The roadway at this site is expected to close at approximately 8 a.m. Monday. U.S. 431 is expected to reopen to traffic sometime on Thursday, March 21.

There will be a marked detour for passenger vehicle traffic via Kentucky 2107 through the Cleaton community. Trucks should self-detour via an appropriate alternate route.

CSX and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will attempt to provide timely notice if the roadway at this site reopens earlier than expected.
