dortchDRAKESBORO, Ky. (3/24/19) — Multiple police agencies responded to a domestic disturbance after a man allegedly shot at his wife and her two teenage daughters as they attempted to flee the Drakesboro residence.

Kentucky State Police said a call for assistance from Muhlenberg Dispatch was requested at 6:33 p.m. Friday night about a shooting incident in Drakesboro. Through investigation, KSP detectives determined William C. Dortch, 46 of Drakesboro had been in an altercation with his wife, Tonya L. Dortch, 44.

KSP said as Tonya Dortch and her two teenage daughters began to leave the residence, William Dortch came outside with a gun and fired several shots striking Tonya Dortch’s vehicle as she and her children were driving away.

Tonya Dortch and her daughters were transported by a family member to Owensboro Muhlenberg Community Hospital for injuries that did not appear life threatening, said KSP.

William Dortch was taken to Muhlenberg County Detention Center, where KSP charged him with first-degree domestic violence, two counts of attempted murder and fourth-degree assault/no visible injury.

KSP was assisted in the investigation by Central City Police Department, Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department, Greenville Police Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, Central City and Drakesboro fire departments.
