inmate capturedGREENVILLE, Ky. (4/21/19) — An inmate made a short-lived run last night after escaping the county jail. He was apprehended little more than an hour later not far from the jail.

Kentucky State Police said Muhlenberg County Detention Center staff notified Post 2 around 4:13 p.m. that an inmate had escaped.

The inmate, 25-year-old Nicholas Barbre of Greenville, apparently fled from the rear door of the detention center and headed in the direction of Pritchett Drive.

A deputy jailer located and took Barbre into custody at 5:29 p.m. on Pritchett Drive and returned him to the jail, said authorities.

Trooper Curtis Crick charged Barbre with second-degree escape.
