Diversicare Director of Nursing Amy Carver said the event uses residents’ fondest memories to create a reflection of it in their individual wheelchair exhibits.

"Our National Nursing Home Week theme is 'Live Soulfully’,” said Carver. “The wheelchair themes reflect back on this them with some of our resident's favorite memories. Today is my first experience with a wheelchair parade. I have greatly enjoyed it and look forward to many more."

Diversicare Administrator Jordan Vinson said not only do the residents look forward to the annual event, but also staff and the community.

"This is Diversicare's third year to participate in a wheelchair parade,” said Vinson. “I think the public enjoys it as much as the residents do. Our residents look forward to this day all year and have been planning and working on their wheelchair themes for the past three months."

Residents from nearby Maple Manor gathered with balloons to cheer on the Diversicare residents’ parade.

Students from the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center volunteered to help with the parade.
