drugarrest 300 aGRAHAM, Ky. (6/19/19) — A vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed alerted a Kentucky State Police Trooper resulting in drug charges for the driver.

KSP said Trooper Ridge Porter spotted a 2018 black Honda CR-V headed east at 6:20 p.m. June 15 at 44 mile marker on the Western Kentucky Parkway.

After the trooper stopped the vehicle, he believed the operator to be under the influence. Further investigation confirmed Laura Howell, 44 of Indianapolis was indeed under the influence and in possession of what appeared to be Hydrocodone, said KSP.

Porter charged Howell with speeding 26 MPH or greater above the limit, reckless driving, DUI - first offense, prescription controlled substance not in proper container - first offense and first-degree possession of a controlled substance/drug unspecified - first offense. Howell was incarcerated in Muhlenberg County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate there as of this publication.
