muhl courthouseGREENVILLE, Ky. (7/30/19) — County leaders agreed to purchase a mower for the road department and approve the jailer’s request to set jail booking fees at $25 during last Thursday’s bi-monthly fiscal court meeting.

Magistrate Darrin Benton presided over Muhlenberg County Fiscal Court in the absence of Judge-Executive Curtis McGehee, who was out on other business. Magistrates agreed to advertise for bids on two roll-off and two tri-axle trucks for the sanitation and road department.

Approval was granted for the road department to purchase a Grasshopper mower for $10,456 through local vendor 4-Seasons during the meeting and agreed to allow the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office to complete a purchase on a vehicle that was requested in February.

Magistrates approved authorizing McGehee to appoint a committee to coordinate with the Department of Local Governments regarding the county’s participation in the state Energy Efficiency Project and approved Greenville Fire Chief Jerry Aders appointment to the 911 Budget Board.

The court decided to table discussion of a contribution to Muhlenberg County Board of Education involving school resource officers.

County Treasurer Bob Lewis reported on the county’s budget and went over June transfers as well as audit suggestions that will be implemented. Lewis said he has decided to provide a monthly payroll report of all county employees to the court for review and questions.
