The second annual “Jacklyn Peveler Fight the Fight” event will be Aug. 16, 17 and 18 at Vaught Lake in Nelson Creek.

Last year, more than 500 people attended the event and entertainment this year includes Courtney Peveler, Darrin Johnson, Brian Wiggins, Spoken from Dust and 181 South. There will be free camping all weekend, family fun and swimming although there will be no lifeguard on duty. There is a $10 entrance fee and food will be available for purchase.

Rodney L. Peveler, father of the late Jacklyn Leigh’Ann Peveler, who lost her battle with drug addiction Aug. 20, 2017, is an organizer of the event that honors her memory.

There will be testimonies from several people that are in addiction recovery and a lantern release to honor the memories of those that have lost their battles with addiction, said Rodney Peveler.

Proceeds from admission will be given to two drug recovery programs — Redeemed and Restored, which is a substance abuse facility for men; and, Set Free Mission Bible Training Center in Greenville, a Christ-centered program for people with drug addiction or emotional problems.
