us 431CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (8/20/19) — Shortly after 3 p.m., wind blasted the Central City area with gusto. Reports of trees down, debris scattered across property and roadways due to wind, which might have been behind a minor traffic incident on U.S. 431.

A piece of construction equipment apparently slid off a trailer being pulled behind a Ford pickup near the Western Kentucky Parkway interchange between Central City and Cleaton. Central City police and fire units responded to the scene.

The power was knocked out at the Central City Wellness Center but officials said Kentucky Utilities has been notified and power should be restored soon.

Some area swimming pools have been collapsed, according to some residents' Facebook posts.
