MrGREENVILLE, KY., — Irvin Wright Gary, 88, of Greenville passed away Saturday morning, July 21, 2018 at 8:30am in the Heartford House in Owensboro after a short illness. Granddad was born on November 30, 1929 in Luzerne the only son of James Irvin Gary and Elta Kennedy Gary.  He graduated from Greenville High School and was an active member of the Greenville United Methodist church.

He began working at Gary’s Funeral Home at the age of 14. He was funeral director, embalmer and owner of Gary’s Funeral Home Inc. and was a past President of the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky. He was an Eagle Scout and member of Pond River Masonic Lodge #244 in Greenville. Granddad’s love of people and his generous heart touched everyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Verna Fink.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 11am from Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville by Reverend Tommy Stovall with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 23, 2018 between 4pm and 8pm and on Tuesday after 9am.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years Ima Nell Finley Gary of Greenville, 3 children Stephen Wright Gary of Greenville, Jim (Dottie) Gary of Louisville, Jane (Mark) Hankins of Greenville, 4 grandchildren Anne (Jeremy) McGill, Sarah (James) Wester, Ben Gary, Jennifer (Marc) Linden, 3 great grandsons Brady, Christian and Hank, 1 sister Datha Young of Central City.
