grant money 300 x 300OHIO/MUHLENBERG COUNTIES, Ky. (9/20/19) — Bluegrass Cellular is now accepting nominations for its 2019 Battles in the Bluegrass school spirit program – an initiative to help strengthen and grow local high schools’ technology. The program allows members of the community to show their support for their favorite local high schools and help one lucky school receive a $5,000 technology gift.

This year, high schools in Bluegrass Cellular’s coverage area can be nominated to compete in the Bluegrass Cellular social media bracket competition by filling out an entry form online through September 26 at midnight. At 3 p.m. on Friday, September 27, eight high schools from the nomination pool will be randomly selected to compete in the bracket challenge.

The social media bracket challenge kicks off October 7, when schools will battle it out on Bluegrass Cellular’s Facebook page at facebook.com/bluegrasscellular. Once the bracket matchups have been announced, fans will have 48 hours to vote for their favorite schools online by selecting “Like” or “Love” on posts that contain content featuring paired schools’ mascots or logos. In a bracket-style competition, the winner from each matchup will advance to the next round. This process ultimately leads to the finals, which will determine the school that will take home the $5,000 technology prize.

“Bluegrass Cellular is excited to provide an opportunity for the community to cheer on our area high schools as we lend support toward purchasing technology that will enhance the education of our area students this school year,” said Barry Nothstine, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Bluegrass Cellular. “Our Battles in the Bluegrass program benefits the entire winning high school while allowing everyone in the community the chance to show their support by voting.”
